Nuri Şahin is close to completing a move to Arsenal despite rumours that he may make a last minute U-turn and join Liverpool.
Arsenal have reached an agreement with Şahin who has expressed his willingness to join the North London club.
The Gunners had also agreed terms with Real Madrid however, hit a snag over the inclusion of a buy-out-clause and the first-option price if Real decide to sell.
Spanish League journalist Guillem Balague Tweeted yesterday, "Arsenal and Madrid have agreed deal for Sahin. If player is happy with details, deal should be confirmed in the next few days."
Premier League journalist and prominent Arsenal blogger Jamie Sanderson, also reported a deal being reached via his Twitter account.
Sanderson Tweeted, "Sahin will be season-long loan with no clause to buy, but first option if Madrid sell. Arsenal pay wages and €2m loan fee.
"Arsenal busy working on formalities of deal for Nuri Sahin last night. Terms agreed with player and Real Madrid."
Jose Mourinho once again gave Şahin the green light to make a move to the Premiership and appeared less intent on pushing for a Liverpool move.
Mourinho said, "The Premier League is a good place for players to pick up certain characteristics which he does not have.
"It is all the same to me though which club he goes to. I just hope that it happens soon for him, as it is best for him. Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs, I have no preference."
Şahin bid farewell to his Real teammates yesterday and was expected to be officially announced as an Arsenal player until these latest developments.
The 23-year-old midfielder was also on the verge of completing an Arsenal move ahead of Real's pre-season match against Benfica.
Latest reports from Spain however, suggest that Şahin's agent Reza Fazeli has been holding last minute talks with Liverpool over the possibility of making a late switch to the Reds.
Real Madrid are growing increasingly impatient over the delay and are pushing for the deal to be concluded by the end of the week.
